Host Agreement

Last updated 20 October 2026

1. About this agreement

This agreement is between FUNXTOURS (Pty) Ltd ("FUNXTOURS") and the business or person who lists an attraction, activity or place to stay on funxtours.co.za ("you", the "host"). You accept it when you agree in the host application. It sets out in full the host terms in section 9 of our Terms of Service, which also apply to you. If the two ever differ, the Terms of Service apply.

FUNXTOURS is a booking platform. You provide the stay, activity or experience and are responsible for it. FUNXTOURS takes bookings and payments for you, and pays you as set out below.

2. Joining and your listing

  • Listing is free: there is no sign-up, monthly or listing fee.
  • Answer the host application truthfully. We may ask for proof of identity, ownership, licences or insurance before or after approving you.
  • Every new listing is checked by our team before guests can see it. We may decline a listing without giving reasons where that is reasonable.
  • Keep your listing accurate and up to date: description, photos (which must be of your own business), prices, what is included, facilities, location, house rules, age limits and availability.
  • Only list a business you own or are authorised to list, and only one account per business unless we agree otherwise.

3. Prices, commission and payouts

  • You set your own prices in South African Rand. The price you show must be the full price for what is listed, with no hidden extras charged on arrival unless the listing says so clearly.
  • FUNXTOURS earns a commission of 10% of your listed price on each paid booking. You receive 90% of your full listed price, less Paystack's card processing fee.
  • Payments are split automatically by Paystack when the guest pays, and your share is paid to the bank account you connect, on Paystack's settlement schedule. FUNXTOURS does not hold your share.
  • When a guest uses a FunX Coins discount, FUNXTOURS pays for the discount: your payout is still based on your full listed price.
  • Your listing can only take paid bookings once you have connected a South African bank account on the "Get paid" page. Changing bank details needs a code sent to your email, and you are emailed every time they change.
  • You are responsible for your own taxes, including income tax and VAT on your full listed price where you are registered.

4. Bookings and cancellations

  • Honour every confirmed booking. Keep your availability calendar up to date, especially if you also take bookings elsewhere, so you are never double-booked.
  • If you truly cannot provide a confirmed booking, tell the guest and FUNXTOURS immediately. The guest then receives a full refund from FUNXTOURS.
  • If a guest cancels, our Cancellation & Refund Policy applies: FUNXTOURS keeps a 10% cancellation fee and refunds the guest the rest. You do not earn anything from a booking that is cancelled and refunded.
  • Paying back your share: your share of a booking is paid to you automatically when the guest pays, but refunds are paid to guests by FUNXTOURS. So whenever a paid booking is cancelled and refunded (whether you or the guest cancelled), you must pay your share of that booking back to FUNXTOURS. We will email you a statement showing the booking and the amount (your share as it was paid to you), and you must pay it by EFT within 7 days. If it is not paid in time, we may pause your listings until it is, and we may recover it in any other lawful way.
  • Repeated cancellations by a host may lead to the listing being paused or removed.
  • Disputes about a booking should first be raised with FUNXTOURS, and we will try to resolve them fairly with you and the guest.

The full rules are in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.

5. Running your business safely and legally

  • Hold every licence, permit, registration and insurance your business needs, and follow health, safety, fire, liquor, tourism and building rules that apply to you.
  • You are responsible for the safety of your guests and for any activities, equipment, guides, food and transport you provide. Tell guests honestly about risks, age limits, fitness requirements and conditions before they book.
  • Where your activity needs an indemnity or waiver, have it ready for guests when they arrive. It cannot exclude liability the law does not allow you to exclude.
  • Treat guests fairly and respectfully, without unfair discrimination.

6. Guests' personal information

  • You receive guests' details only so you can provide their booking. Use them only for that, keep them secure, and do not use them for marketing unless the guest separately agrees.
  • Delete or return guest information you no longer need for the booking or for your legal records, and tell FUNXTOURS immediately if guest information in your care is lost, stolen or accessed by someone who should not have it.
  • You are responsible for complying with POPIA for the information you handle.

7. Keeping bookings on FUNXTOURS

Do not ask guests who found you on FUNXTOURS to book or pay outside the platform, and do not share contact details in chats before a booking is confirmed. This keeps you and the guest protected, and lets us help if something goes wrong. Contact details are hidden in chats automatically.

8. Reviews

Only guests who have paid for and reached the date of a booking can review it. Do not post, buy or ask for fake reviews, or offer anything in return for a good review. FUNXTOURS may hide reviews that are fake, abusive or break our rules.

9. Pausing, removing and leaving

  • There is no minimum contract period. You may pause or remove your listing at any time, but bookings that are already confirmed must still be honoured.
  • FUNXTOURS may pause or remove a listing, or block an account, where it breaks this agreement or the Terms of Service, where we reasonably suspect fraud, or where it puts guests at risk. Where it is reasonable to, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.
  • Approval of your listing, or a Verified badge, does not mean FUNXTOURS has inspected your business, and is not an endorsement.

10. Responsibility

To the extent the law allows, FUNXTOURS is not responsible for the stay or experience you provide, or for loss or damage caused by you, your staff or your premises. You agree to cover FUNXTOURS for claims from guests or others that arise from your business, your listing or your breach of this agreement, except where FUNXTOURS caused the loss. Nothing in this agreement limits rights that the law does not allow to be limited.

11. Changes and general

  • We may update this agreement. We will tell you by email or on the site before a change that affects you takes effect, and continuing to list after that means you accept it. If you do not agree, you may remove your listing.
  • This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
